RE: Still Speechless.................Update today

I thank my lucky stars I live on a ranch in West Texas, where pickups are not only welcome, but considered the "norm."
I'd have a "for sale" sign in my yard the next day, if I were he - or are those forbidden too??

RE: Would you want to be a teacher?!?!?

Nothing surprises me anymore. It should leave no doubt as to why we can no longer compete in a "global world."

RE: Ellie Mae

Or, at the very least - his "eyebrow"!
And the guy needs to lose the gold chain and coin - too 70's-ish, but that must be Lake Tahoe "cool." In that photo he reminds me a bit of Wayne Newton also. Same kind of game!

RE: A pox on the 'garbage in the firepit' people!!

Worst we have ever had was in a state park here in Georgia. Folks left a smoldering fire that smelled terrible. When we went to extinguish it, we found a pile of dirty (poopie) diapers. Grossed us out.
While traveling, we stopped at a roadside rest area to have lunch and when we approached the picnic table, there awaited us - two dirty diapers full of poop - sitting right in the middle of the picnic table, with a trash can nearby. One can only guess where the changing took place. Needless to say - we ate in the truck and quickly left. It is a "new world" alright!

RE: Bad WalMart Campers

I would be all for the moderators limiting all Walmart post to 2 or 3 pages. Nothing is ever settled, whats the point.
If you use that criteria - then they would have to close a good many of the threads on this forum after 2 or 3 pages - not just on Wal-Mart threads - as most of the time nothing is ever settled on many of the other threads either. :C

RE: Ellie Mae

Perhaps Donna wears her hair in braided pigtails to be recognized.
You are probably right - it clearly looks like a "wig" to me. Surely, (hopefully) she only wears it for promotional events, etc. I guess it is easy to be rough on her at her age. I can surmise that she probably needs the money, but whew - it hurts to look at some of these photos, especially since they are still out there on TV in their former youth and glory, and that is the last most of us saw of them. It happens to all of us though.

Yeah - he looks "a bit" like James Garner in that particular photo, but just like Donna Douglas - he also seems to be having real trouble letting go of the past. Needs to back off the black shoe polish.

RE: Ellie Mae

What a coincidence, I was flipping through channels yesterday and came upon a rerun of the Beverly Hillbillies - and there was Ellie Mae - looking very slim and taut - in her tight jeans with the rope belt - and looking like the beautiful young woman that she was.
It is a bit of a shock to see that picture above, but in all fairness, she looks pretty good for her age in the face, though the hair is bit much for someone her age, as if she is trying too hard to hang on to yesteryear - long after she should have let it go.
Wonder what Jethro looks like. Time has no mercy.

RE: Bad WalMart Campers

Would a dirty martini before breakfast just be too much, you think?
Not at all, but personally, I prefer "dusty" to "dirty," but then either one will suffice under the circumstances. Actually, I was quite dismayed to wake up and find the highly entertaining "Wally World" thread from yesterday gone. I was so looking forward to any new additions. Alas, such is life!

I know it's early, but ya wanna beer?

Yes - It is early - but I've found that a "Bombay Sapphire and tonic" is more in order for a good "Wally World" thread, regardless of the time of the day - and it is the weekend after all!

RE: Oil usage way down

Sarcasm is sometimes hard to see in a post, but you are right, the drop in price is a good start. My earlier post about the Hummer was supposed to be sarcastic too - so point well taken - guess that is why they have the emoticons to use. Sorry!

RE: Oil usage way down

I agree with "gasbag" - that is exactly how the "powers that be" are hoping you will feel about the cost of gas/fuel - i.e., so lucky and pleased to have what "seems like" a newly discounted price, when in truth - it is still up significantly from what it was a year ago and it is still eating a giant hole in your budget.

RE: Detroit House Sells for $1.00

Can you legally skip paying taxes?
I can only speak for how it works in our county, but my understanding is that the judgment for the back taxes does not attach to the person who owned the property and abandoned it. It is kind of like a non-recourse note. The local tax appraisal office tries to sell the land at the courthouse at a special tax sale, but if they do not get a bid high enough to pay the back taxes owed, then they just pull it off the list and try again later, or arrange a private sale.

RE: Watch What You Do in Your Front Yard!

Hey - you are on video everywhere these days - from the moment you leave your front door, on the street, at most intersections, at the mall, at the bank, at most stores, at most work places, at government buildings. Get used to it!

Detroit House Sells for $1.00

Not much of a negotiator! Never pay full price. Should have been able to pick it up for $.75.

Circus Folk - You can't trust them. They move from town to town with their rigged games and cheap stuffed animals. What can you do? Avoid them at all costs!
